Welcome to Pediatric Occupational Therapy Services. We hope this web site helps you learn more about our services and provides you with a wealth of information about occupational therapy for infants and children. Through our blog, we hope to keep you updated regularly on topics of interest, toys that we love, articles of interest, and workshops open to parents. At POTS we are committed to empowering each child to maximize his/her potential through cutting edge occupational therapy evaluation and treatment services and to provide parents with the tools to prepare their children to meet the challenges and experience the joys of childhood.
Our warm, nurturing atmosphere is designed to put parents and children at ease and our upbeat décor and fun equipment is designed to appeal to the most discriminating child in order to prepare children for the variety of roles they must assume, from achieving developmental milestones such as rolling over, sitting and cruising, to stringing beads, doing puzzles and playing pretend, and ultimately to eating independently, dressing, participating in circle time, writing and doing homework. We employ a variety of therapeutic strategies.
Parents, grandparents and caregivers are encouraged to participate in sessions and home programs are frequently developed to support the goals of therapy. A sensory diet can be introduced to help the child’s day run more smoothly at home and/or in school, and when needed, adaptations can be made to facilitate independence in self-care skills and other daily activities. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with all of the family members involved in your child’s life, the school, other professionals, after-school programs and summer camp. Together, as a team, we seek to explore your child’s strengths as well as his/her needs, to foster the self-confidence and self esteem necessary to overcome any challenges.
Thank you for visiting our site. Once you are acquainted with our practice check in frequently to find information on sensory integration, a plethora of other techniques and seasonal tips. Consult our calendar for parent workshops.
