Kathleen Westerduin, MA CC SLP
Speech Language Pathologist
Katie is an energetic and passionate Speech-Language Pathologist who utilizes a play-based approach to treating language and speech sound disorders. She relishes taking the time to get to know her patients and families deeply, so that she can maximize every child’s engagement and generalize their skills within the natural environment. Katie’s biggest reward is developing positive therapeutic relationships with patients and their families and collaborating with other disciplines to address the needs of the whole child.
Katie specializes in treating toddler to school age children with challenges in receptive and expressive language, speech sounds, and pragmatic language. Katie’s PROMPT-training has been invaluable in her work with children with motor speech disorders and Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
Katie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Stonehill College in 2012 and her Master of Science in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Emerson College in 2017. She has a broad background working with both children and adults in a range of clinical settings, including private practice, public school, outpatient university clinic, subacute rehabilitation, and home health.
Katie loves to learn, and continues to seek out opportunities to fine tune her skills through continuing education, research, and podcasts. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, reading, and spending time with family, friends, and her adorable kitty, Tucker.
