A 2007 graduate of Tufts University with a major in child development, Katia earned her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from the Boston School of Occupational Therapy at Tufts University in 2009. Katia has provided occupational therapy to children from infancy to young adulthood with a wide variety of diagnoses and challenges. She has worked in settings such as early intervention, public and private schools, and pediatric clinics.
Katia sees parents and caregivers as integral partners in therapy and makes sure parents have tools and strategies to use at home to meet their child’s needs and to foster independence. She encourages parents to participate in sessions when they can, to learn new skills and techniques.
In schools, Katia works closely with teachers and administrative staff to incorporate various sensory strategies, neuromuscular techniques, and ergonomic adaptations into the child’s day to support academic progress. Katia has a special interest in technology and how it can be incorporated positively to support children’s success.
Katia loves working with young children and is passionate about making a difference for families. She has a strong focus on children’s independence and success within their natural environment. For Katia, “the best part of being an OT is seeing children discover their own abilities!” She truly loves thinking outside the box to help children and families reach their goals.
Outside of POTS, Katia enjoys quality time with family, coffee dates with friends, practicing yoga, cooking healthy food and scrapbooking.
