Occupational Therapist

Tom grew up in Sparta, New Jersey with horses and cows down the block. The youngest of six brothers, Tom spent quality time fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, running, traveling, and playing the saxophone. As an undergraduate student in Exercise Science and Psychology at Rutgers University, an anatomy professor convinced Tom to do fieldwork in sensory integration, and he immediately knew that he wanted to work with children. Tom took a leadership role as a  graduate student in occupational therapy at NYU, serving as the student chair for the New York Metropolitan District executive board of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association, before graduating in 2004. In 2018 Tom was selected from 3,2000 nominations from parents in New Jersey to receive the New Jersey Family Favorite Kids’ Docs award for his compassion, bedside manner and medical expertise. Go Tom!

While Tom has experience in hand therapy and sub-acute rehabilitation, working with children and their families both in schools and clinical settings had always been his passion. “My favorite thing about working with kids is to see them smile when they accomplish something, whether it is a kindergartner learning to write her name for the first time, or a child on the autistic spectrum learning how to tie his shoelaces”.

Outside of work Tom enjoys, traveling, cooking, exercise, and the great outdoors, as well as a few quirky hobbies such as roasting coffee and making espresso blends.
